Recuperating.....

  • Book I am reading now: Killer Swell by: Jeff Shelby

"Greetings!"

I would like to apologize for the lack of activity on this site for the past month, I am recuperating from a broken arm that has really hindered my ability to operate the keyboard without discomfort.

So this post will be short....and hopefully, sweet!

Just an update pertaining to Twilight....

*(To read my previous reviews about "Twilight")

I watched the movie, actually I purchased the movie, and I can say, it was a pretty good "watch."

I purchased the first book of the saga for my daughter, who has read all the books now.  And let me say, she really enjoyed them!

So, here is my opinion:

These books are exceptionally long, and there are four of them (so far??) and I ask you....what would you rather have your child doing?  Spending a few days reading a series of perfectly harmless fictional books or being out on the streets, possibly getting into mischief or worse yet, having mischief coming to them?

So what if these books aren't really an adult's literature choice, the kid's love them!  Most of us, as adults are so busy with the responsibilities of living, that we have lost our imagination, so what if these books don't portray "our" ideas of what "Vampire" rules are?  This IS a fictional book, people, it's not meant to be fact.  So where is the harm in reading an enjoyable book.....if our kids enjoy the book, what is the problem?  You don't have to read it! You do have a choice.

So I say, lighten up!!!! I enjoyed the movie "Twilight" and my kid enjoys the  books, so I give the "Twilight Saga" a "THUMBS UP."  Would you rather that your children be obsessed with a movie like "Last house on the Left?" I think not!

Midnight Bayou by: Nora Roberts

  • Book I am reading now: Montana Sky by: Nora Roberts
  • Cool Site of the Week: http://www.ttpbooks.com/ourstory.htm

"Greetings!"

Well, Nora Roberts has done it again!

Midnight Bayou is an awesome read!

Set in the Bayou country of Louisianna, Midnight Bayou is an enchanting tale of ghost from the past and love in the future, with mystery and suspense thrown in for good measure.

The story takes place with the purchase of an old dilapidated mansion, on the outskirts of New Orleans, Declan Fitzgerald, the wealthy, new owner, having called off his wedding and leaving his successful attorney's office in New York, has taken on the overwhelming position of restoring the old mansion to it's former glory.

Rumor is, that the old Mansion is haunted, which Declan, immediately, finds out that the local legends are true.

This book has all the twists and turns, and bells and whistles and surprises that no one could predict! Nora Roberts has an imagination that no one can possibly equal!

I cannot give away any of the treats that you will find in Midnight Bayou.....you will have to read it yourself to find those.

Here's the description on Midnight Bayou's jacket:

"The number one New YorkTimes bestselling author of The Villa presents a novel set in the bayou country of Louisiana-where the only witness to a long ago tragedy is a once grand house.

There was something about the house that called out to Declan Fitzgerald. The dilapidated mansion on the outskirts of New Orleans, rumored to be haunted, and long taken over by spiders and dust, would require countless hours of labor to restore to it's former splendor. Perhaps that was part of the appeal. Having finally purchased Manet Hall after dreaming about it for years, Declan left his Boston law practice, traded in his briefcase for a toolbelt, in hopes of rediscovering the deep soul satisfaction of real hard work.

But, as he begins the renovation, spending long hours in total isolation within the crumbling house, Declan wonders whether the talk of ghosts is more than just local legend. He has had visions, seen strange things from a century past. More so, he feels inexplicable, unpredictable sensations of terror and nearly unbearable grief.

For a time, a beautiful neighbor named Angelina Simone provides an alluring distraction from the disquieting events--and as Declan focuses on bebuilding Manet Hall, the passion between them grows stronger as well. This dusky, earthy woman has an odd connection to the mansion, too, however.

Before Declan and Angelina can hope for a future together, they must uncover a secret from the past as deep and dark as the bayou!"

And as ever, some murders receive more attention than other's, especially those in which the victim is a prominent businessman, found in his Park Avenue apartment, tied to the bed--and strangled--with cords of black velvet. Was this a crime of passion--or a carefully planned execution?
It's up to Dallas to solve a sensational case where all involved guard secrets from one another--and strangers may be connected in unexpected and deadly ways.

Craig Foster's death devastated his young wife, who'd sent him to work that day with a lovingly packed lunch. It shocked his colleagues at the private school, too, and as for the ten-year-old girls who found him in his classroom in a pool of bodily fluids—they may have been traumatized for life.

Creation in Death
A killing spree that takes the lives of four young women in fifteen days by a man called "the Groom" by the media, because he put silver rings on the fingers of his victims, Eve is haunted by "those she couldn't save." What she doen't know is that he is practicing up for his greatest challenge and biggest pleasure....Eve!
